The 1st #Improv Festival in English, in Brussels.

To celebrate our 5th Birthday, Impro for Dummies has invited all the Brussels-based English-speaking improv groups for an extraordinary event on June 24th:
THE IMPROBRUSSELS DAY – the 1st Improv Festival in English, in Brussels.

At this day, you will get the chance to see 5 shows in just one day.
For the 1st time, all the groups will perform in a unique, fantastic series of shows which are 100% improvised.
This event is also the opportunity to support a good cause. The profit of the day will go to Emergency Belgium and their activities to help victims of war and poverty. This year we support their project in Sierra Leone (see an example here).
The volunteers of Emergency will prepare fancying snacks and drinks to make the day even more incredible.

The Performers

“Hello. We are The Core. We are some of the core members of the Brussels Improv Meetup group, and we do improv shows!
The Brussels Improv Meetup group has been around since the summer of 2016. We did a first show in 2017, and will do a second one in 2018!”

Our website

ImproBubble is Brussels’ newest school of improvisation, catering directly to Brussels’ international community. For Impro for Dummies’ Day of Improv ImproBubble has assembled 8 of its teachers and students, performing together to mark this special day. They are: Kelly Agathos (EL), Ben Hartwig (DE), Sara van der Zande (NL), Kivanc Cubukcu (TK), Kasia Jurczak (PL), Margaret Mouzaka (EL), Fiona Grossmann (DE) and Joe Horwood (UK).

ImproBubble will perform their Show “Typewriter”

Writing a script from scratch requires a lot of research, skill and dedication. It takes many unfruitful attempts until a satisfactory product emerges. But what if it doesn’t?
In The Typewriter, ImproBubble presents a play that is spontaneous, lively and completely improvised. The audience will witness acting, writing and directing on the spot and even get a chance to influence the play. Will this be the best play that has ever been written? We don’t know, but you can be sure that it will be most entertaining!

Ben Hartwig and Dona Ursu, partner in life and partner on stage, will perform an incredible improvised show on “Crime, cigarettes and no conscience?”, an Improvised Film Noir with Ben Hartwig and Dona Ursu supported by Tom Tollenaere.

The Ghost Sheep is an anglophone improvisation troupe based in Brussels. Its members hail from all over the globe and have been performing together since 2013. The Ghost Sheep perform both short-form and long-form improvisation, having created their own formats, “The Gallery”, “The Fortune Teller” and “Challenge Accepted”, which have been presented to audiences in Brussels and abroad. The Ghost Sheep are also established on the international improvisation festival circuit, having performed in festivals in France, Denmark, the Netherlands, Ireland, Greece, and Portugal, and have also performed in Malta, Milan and Amsterdam.
Impro for Dummies means Theatre Improvisation,  in English, in Brussels, across nationalities – and for everybody!

In 5 years, Impro for Dummies has organised and performed 20+ shows with 50+ actors on stage, and about hundred participants in its improv courses. They will perform the “Royal IMPRodeo”, the biggest show ever seen with a fierce competition… and only one will win!

Extra opportunity

09h30 – 12h30 Intro to Improv & the 4 Tendencies

If you want to try Improv and explore how it can change your real life, here a great opportunity to explore “improv and the 4 tendencies”.
More information below and on the facebook event page.

As part of The Day of Improv, Impro for Dummies – Brussels is happy to propose a fantastic workshop to introduce you to Improv & The Four Tendencies

Dona Ursu

Dona Ursu is a ‘Rebel’ teacher, who went through an exciting path keeping freedom as a fil rouge. Freedom to communicate, to create art and to tame the mind. In this workshop, you will be introduced to the Gretchen Rubin’s ‘Four Tendencies’. Each tendency can be both a blessing and a curse, like Dona who understood to be a “Rebel”. The workshop will introduce you on how to get the best out of it, and about the Tendencies of others so you can learn to speak their language and have better relationships. These tendencies will help you get to know yourself better and communicate with others more smoothly by speaking the language of their personality tendency. You will use theatre improvisation to explore our characters.
Improvisers will learn how to create 4 distinct archetypes of characters that are recognizable and human. Non-improvisers will learn how to communicate with others.

The workshop is limited to 16 persons interested to discover their own tendencies.
Price 30 Euros each. Online presale WARMLY suggested using this link.

The net income of the event will go to support EMERGENCY
